Lex Casciato makes music under the alias Little Warrior because while she may appear small in day-to-day life, she is actually a formidable opponent in the fight against hate. Her songs focus on a variety of topics from relationships to social injustice but love is a resounding theme throughout.
Little Warrior’s music career began in her hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. Her first album, Gamboge, was released in 2010 and a full-length ballet titled “Sectional Sentiments” was created to it by the Pittsburgh-based Bodiography Contemporary Ballet Company. She relocated to Portland, OR in 2011 and quickly began making waves in the Pacific Northwest music scene. She met fellow Heaven Noise artist Goldini Bagwell and collaborated on his songs “Desire Is… “ and “Everchanging Constant” off his 2014 release Secondhand Smoke (The Extended Cut).
All the while, her sound has continued to evolve. A true-DIY spirit, Little Warrior has produced, written, mixed, and mastered the majority of the music she has released to date. Her 2012 full-length Drop Beats, Not Bombs and 2013 EP Little Airplanes garnered attention and earned her a spot on the first ever GirlFestNW showcase in 2013. Her 2014 full-length Fight With Your Heart was another step forward, displaying an experimental yet refined approach to her beautifully melodic compositions.
At GirlFestNW’s 2016 showcase, Little Warrior premiered her “Free to Form” series featuring eight unique, mixed-media mannequins each displaying a different stage a survivor may experience. In addition to music and art, Little Warrior is an advocate for survivors of sexual exploitation and assault.
After a brief hiatus, Little Warrior is back with new music to share. Heaven Noise Recordings proudly released her new single “How Do I Be Strong” on September 27th, 2016. Written by Little Warrior and produced by Ryan Short, “How Do I Be Strong” features hauntingly emotional vocals layered over a lush and driving beat. Stay tuned as we’ll soon be releasing more from this multi-talented songwriter and artist!
