Northwest rhyme-spitter Abadawn has made a name for himself in the indie hip hop world by touring extensively throughout the last 10 years with artists such as G-Eazy, Machine Gun Kelly, The Chicharones, Sadistik, and Ceschi. He has also released a handful of dope projects and has collaborated with Rhymesayers affiliate turned viral sensation Mac Lethal. Though Abadawn hasn’t released a record since 2011, it’s not because he hasn’t been busy. Shortly after the release of Deadication, he was touring the country (including the entire Vans Warped Tour in 2012) and helping out his fellow artists at indie-rap label Camobear Records. New music was put on hold after his laptop, which contained several songs for an album he was working on at the time, was stolen in Austin, Texas during the SXSW music festival. Since 2014, he has released a few one-off singles while exploring other avenues of expression including stand up comedy. He became a co-host of the free form nerd & pop-culture driven podcast Triple B which launched in 2015 and just recently hit its 50th episode milestone.
After a transformative year in which Aba focused primarily on cleaning up his personal life and experimenting with different mediums, he is back to releasing honest and raw music with The Disappointment EP. From punchline driven rhymes to social commentary, from introspection to bizarre storytelling, there’s a wide range of style and subject matter packed in these 7 tracks.
The Disappointment EP features collaborations with Claud Six (Jellyfish Brigade/Hives Inquiry Squad) and singer/songwriter Sandro Cedroe (SDS Records), with production by Jay Jones (The Codependents) and Charley Haggard of the punk band MFA. This EP is another eclectic listen for Abadawn’s catalog and his most concise offering to date, toeing the line between sarcastic humor and existential maturity.
